Chesterfield County

More than 319,000 people call Chesterfield Count home. Spanning 446 square miles, the county is graced by a diverse combination of fertile farmland, panoramic riverfront, lovely residential communities and well-planned office and industrial centers.

Chesterfield County has dedicated over 8,700 acres of land to 32 parks, including Pocahontas State Park, named for the famous Indian Princess. The history of Chesterfield County is especially intriguing and comes to life for visitors through annual festivals, reenactments and tours of the many landmarks. Among these is Henricus, the site of the second English settlement, founded in 1611. Located along the banks of the James River in the southeastern portion of the county, Henricus hosts several annual events complete with period costume, housing and foods!

Because of Chesterfield's strong commitment to education, its school system ranks among the top in the country. The prudent management of finances and government has earned Chesterfield County a AAA bond rating, one of just a few nationwide. Additionally, the crime rate for Chesterfield is the lowest in the metropolitan Richmond region.
